Nick Is Missing, the Evil Little Shit
It appears that, today of all days, Nick escaped out the front door as usual, but this time, no one noticed.
Today is extra bad b/c we were in a huge rush at 8am to get out the door and get everything done. J had to work; I had to work. I had errands to run. It wasn't until I got home around 3pm that I noticed he was gone.
We are supposed to be driving to Michigan right now for my party weekend.
Gil, probably sensing our stress, has decided that he's stressed, too, even though he was chill all afternoon, and is pacing the house and meowing.
We've been searching the giant park across the street and knocking on neighbors doors, although only the retirees are home right now.
Called the Humane Society, where we adopted him and where he was chipped.
We can't leave for MI until he's found.
And here I thought work sucked today.

Well, we're out of ideas. We should be in Windsor now.
I'm thinking of giving him the night to show up and for us to post Missing flyers, but my parents, sis, grandma have all made plans around me for tomorrow, including a cake that has long been ordered and paid for.
I don't know what to do.

Before I was ready to move to Bermuda, I had to have my two kitties (Remy and Troubles) get shots and have a check up to prove their rabies free status. The night before the vet's appt Troubles got out. I looked for him for days. Then the day before the shot deadline (they had to be a month before we left) I came home to see a kitty looking very sorry for himself on my window ledge. He was so timid that he wouldn't come to me (which was nothing new). He jumped thru a pipe and into the basement - the super had to help me get him. He never tried to get out again.

Do you know folks in the neighbourhood that can keep an eye out while you're away? Maybe give them a key to let him in when he wanders back? Since he's chipped even if he gets picked up, they'll know he's your kitty. He will come back, he can find his way home, he's just likely taking his good ole time checking everything out.

Yes, two women in our townhouse complex will keep an eye out, plus the cat lady in charge of taking care of them this weekend is keeping an eye out. She also volunteers at the Humane Society, so will keep an eye out there, too. Our next-door neighbor thinks she and her barking dog saw him last night around midnight in the parking lot. Which is possible, b/c, now that we think abt it, neither J nor I can remember seeing him after 10:30pm last night.
I just hate this so much, cuz it's always these "perfect storms" of unusual occurrences that allow this kind of shit to happen. So many little things were different in the past 24 hours b/c of the trip, which is now ruined no matter what we decide to do:
I went to bed early so I could get up at 5:30am.
Getting up that early, I worked out at 6am and then dashed home for a shower before dropping J off for work and then taking myself to work.
I didn't come home until 2:30pm, instead of my usual 10am (when I'm working out at my normal time).
And so on and so on. All these schedule disruptions that made it harder to see that Nick wasn't just playing in the basement or skipping a meal b/c he's never that interested in food. This allowed him to get further away, allowed more time for some kid or lady or family to take him home cuz he's so cute, kittenish, thin, and social, all saying, "Adopt me. I need a home."
Gil just keeps staring outside.
We made flyers, are abt to start taping them around.
Sun is setting.
We're sleeping on the couches in the living room tonight with both doors open in case he comes home.

I hate waiting, and yet there is nothing else to do.
I fear that if we stay, I will be so miserable b/c he won't show, I won't be working so I can get my final 24 hours of work in and get out of that hell hole, I will be standing my fam up (they'll understand, of course, but still), and just having yet another miserable Big Day (graduation, old dating annivs, wedding, wedding anniv). I should've known that when I started to get excited and feel good abt tomorrow that it would all blow up in my face.
If we go, we'll just think of Nick and fear we're missing him meowing at the door. We'll get some biz done and see my fam, but it can't be very fun while he's gone.

There's no way to say it without sounding like a goofy assed TV witch - but I'll put out good thoughts, and do a little work tonite, maybe it will help some. Cover all angles I say.

Oh, absolutely. I did an horary chart 20 min ago. It suggests he is WNW of our home, near modern buildings, so J is off to put up more posters over in this new neighborhood abt a km away from us.
I had to try.

Speaking of charts (and attempting to distract you)- why the pregnancy worry during the time span in August you mentioned?

Ah, I mistakenly thought the big New Moon in Leo on Aug 14-15 would fall in your 5th house. Great time for conception.
But your 6th is the giant house. So that's where it will be--in tight conjunction with your Mars. Will have to see what that means. Definitely abt the men in your life, with a solar eclipse and Mars involved. Tell them to take extra safe precautions in cars, walking, biking, watch out for accidents, and to take care of general health.

I'm so sorry. We were totally terrified when we couldn't find ours for half a day after we moved. This must be so much worse.
*hugs* for everyone there, including Gil, and we both will think good coming home kitty thoughts. It sounds like you have a good cat patrol there to help you, at least.

Thanks, hon. I'm still in denial/hope mode. I had several dreams where we found him hiding in the house or on the front porch finally. I kept waking up and discovering that none were true.

I did too, I had a very fitful sleep. I dreamt he was hiding from the rain (and its been pretty torrential) in some bushes and that we found him. But we have a lot of people looking for him and keeping an eye out so I'm hopeful that if he does turn yup, he'll be returned to us.

I miss him a lot, he usually curls up beside me at night if its cold, he'll stuff himself into the crook of my arm. I'm so worried, he's so tiny and it rained so hard and he must be so alone. I picked him and Gil up the night before in my daily ritual of telling them how loved they are. I've never just lsot a pet like this before, I feel really, really bad. I feel like I've let him down.

Am now back from camping and general out-of-townness to say ACK. :(

I'm so very sorry for the strain you all went through -- and so very glad to hear that he's come home safely.

*big hugs to everyone*

Thanks, darlin'. Hope you had a good time. Everything and everyone was very nice, and we bought Bebe a tremendous amount of clothes, so we can't complain abt the weekend.
All three cats are doing well, and we're happy to have them swirling around under and around our bed.

I am sick of all this talking. When are women going to be able to see gratuitus sex from men. Let's see some male frontal nudity, like we do with women. Let's see some women treating men like objects. I have been searching 20 mins. for some good dirty male sex and the only thing I can find is men doing women. I want some real hot men with great bodies.
